Re: How to Get Your Faculty Experiencing & Implementing a NEW Approach
You can have all the best teaching techniques in the world BUT, if you do not reach each student emotionally - it does not matter.
IF any teacher has even an infinitesimal attitude about "certain" students, those students will NOT learn from that teacher - unless or until the energy of that attitude is resolved and dissolved.
And here is where emotionally concerned teachers get it wrong!
They think caring and worrying about "certain" students is what they need.
Unfortunately this sends an attitudinal VIBE to that student that they are helpless, hopeless and not competent enough to manage themselves without constant reinforcement, emoting and chasing after them.
Let's get this straight: EVERY student HAS the innate capacity and ability to learn how to self-manage within the context of effective approaches.
EXPECT that they can; but don't shame them with "your big hearted personal disappointments in them" as they begin learning new Skill Sets.
On the other side of the equation is the teacher who could "give a rip" about "certain" students who are behaviorally disruptive and under performing - kicking them out of class at every turn to "teach them a lesson" ... only problem is that the lesson being learned is "how to get out of class!"
This NEW approach will engage students in a way that they will want to stay IN class to learn!
If you are a Superintendent, Principal or Director of Professional Development, then think about simply issuing assignments to your teachers, followed with a time of discussion about their insights and experiences in applying the new techniques.
The answer is "no" ... you do not need to be the one who presents this New Approach material for succeeding with ALL students to your faculty and staff.
You know how to lead a meeting!
It is as simple as scheduling 1 day a week, bi-weekly or monthly in-service / meetings - whatever fits your school's needs and schedule.
If your school has intense academic and behavioral issues, then do weekly meetings - and at the very least bi-weekly.
Step 1: Schedule the day and time for the Teacher Meetings and then ASSIGN one session for them to listen to at their convenience for learning how to be highly effective with the really tough behavioral and academic issues and then ...
Step 2: Come TOGETHER as an educational community with a shared common goal of academic excellence.
Simply start each meeting sharing that week's SUCCESSES and working your way through the tougher challenges utilizing the approaches being learned.
This will be a fast paced hour of discussing what's been learned and what's been applied.
Your leaders WILL lead the way, and the others will think it's their idea!
When you invest in either program recommended in today's email, you will immediately receive downloadable materials that you can issue out to your teachers - one session at a time.
In addition to your automatically downloadable package, an easy to navigate Online DASHBOARD will be accessible on August 5th - that you can distribute access to - out to your faculty and staff.
Their assignments are simple: Listen to the audio training and follow along in their workbooks.
Put your expectation in place that they come to your teacher in-service / meeting ready to discuss what they've learned and have already applied. [They can listen and watch online or download the material and print out the workbook pages one session at a time.]
I can hear your question now... "What about those teachers who don't do their assignments?"
Excellent question! This opens up all possibilities for you to apply what you are learning right along with them!
These are teachers who are "at-risk" themselves. They don't see themselves as part of the whole, the greater good, nor do they have a clear picture of their educational purpose. They need the same exact techniques I'm teaching you to use with the students and parents.
Next question... "What about how 'disgruntled' many teachers already feel with all that they already have to get done?"
Answer: I've handled that for you in the first 2 sessions!
