Have you ever noticed the kind of training the major seminar companies are promoting?

I just received a promotion for a seminar on How To Deal with Difficult People, and I'd like to draw your attention to what's being taught at our places of work which I believe is causing more harm than good.

Here's what they are teaching and promoting:

Do you recognize these people?
The Know-It-Alls, The Passives, The Dictators,
The "Yes" People, The "No" People, The Gripers.

How does "name calling" and condescending labeling like this help?

It's like pushing a person to the ground, putting your foot on their shoulder to hold them down and then yelling, "GET UP!"

This seminar company also has another training about how to handle negativity in the workplace. This training focuses upon 14 different types of Negaholics:

The Perfectionist. The Never-Good-Enough Person. The Slave Driver. The Procrastinator. The Pattern Repeater. The Never-Measure-Up Person. The Constant Critic. The Comparing Contestant. The Retroactive Fault-Finder. The Premature Invalidator. The Beartrapper. The Constant Complainer. The Herald of Disaster. The Gloom and Doomer.

Really?! RU kidding me!? Talk about having an ATTITUDE! And I'm not talking about the those being accused of being negative. I am talking about the seminar leaders!

How can you give someone a label like any of these and NOT have it energetically smack dab in the middle of every conversation you are having with them?

And you wonder why there is back-lash?! ...why it feels like those being labeled are immoveable, belligerent, oppositional and impossible to deal with!

Whatever you FOCUS UPON EXPANDS, magnifies and grows exponentially!

Think about it: How can condescending name calling help you handle negativity in the workplace and fix the negativity of people who are already struggling (if not suffering)?

So, the ERRONEOUS THINKING is that, by labeling people who are simply UNSKILLFUL at being productive team players with these kind of labels, we are going to get them to want to work synergistically with us!

Again I say, "Really?!"
