I just got an enthusiastic email today from Michelle, who has recently completed my Connecting with Colors® Personality Styles Facilitator Certification program and is currently continuing her expansion and growth with my Connecting with Colors® for Women: Synergize Your Life program. (We're still in session on this course and you are welcome to join us. Click here to invest in yourself.)
I absolutely LOVE emails like this! I wanted to ask you to join with me in congratulating her on her life transformative insights that meant so much to her.
This is what she had to say, and I also share with you my thoughts below so that you understand the "how" behind how Michelle achieved this shift in brand new insight, understanding and application.
eMail Subject: Absolutely eye-opening!
Dear Mary, Craig,
OMG...
As I continue to explore the nuances of CWC, the power of this work continues to amaze me.
As I shared yesterday at the end of class...
Mid-way through taking the parent/teacher test, I realized that I was yo-yo-ing back and forth, struggling to answer as "parent or teacher"... "my kid or my student."
Some questions immediately brought to mind "my" children... and other questions took me to situations with the girls I had mentored for 12 years as a Girl Scout leader or those girls I came in contact with in our Service Unit of 1200.
So this morning I took the test as the "veteran Girl Scout leader." Every question brought to mind a girl/girls and a situation/experience that I had with them.
THE RESULTS OF MY TEST WERE SOOOO DIFFERENT!
By having the "GS Leader" hat on... I'm a Yellow/Green with only 1 or 2 points separating Yellow, Green, Blue. And my red was a 1... compared to the "yo-yo" test results from yesterday which had me as a Red/Green with red being a whopping 12!
So, later I am going to put my "parent" hat on and respond ONLY as a mom.
Even though... sadly, I think I already know what the results will be.
Similar to the outcome of my "home" results... I think I will find that I am much more demanding on "my" kids. And that, although I sincerely "worked hard at" NOT being the mom I was raised by... in some ways... (and actually, more ways than I ever was aware of until now) at times, that's exactly how I was raising MY kids.
Key word here... "was."
As the saying goes... "a mind once stretched by a new idea can never return to its original dimension."
Yep... the bullhorn was re-visited! ;-)
Good stuff!
Growth... Awareness... Ya Gotta Love It!
I am so very grateful and blessed!
Michelle
So pause with me here a moment, and let’s look at what Michelle did that worked, because like I teach in Connecting with Colors® for Women: Synergize Your Life, insight, once you "see" it, and understand how you can apply it as something you can do again and again to make what feels "counter-intuitive" your new "intuitive."
So Michelle did something huge here .... she was "willing" to be "willing" to learn something new about herself and did not beat herself up or make herself wrong about whatever Color Style Hat she puts on based on what life and all of it's various situations are offering her.

"I wish I had taken Mary's Life Area PSAs years ago."
"During my 'Connecting with Colors Facilitator Certification Training' program that I took from Mary, I decided to take both the Home and the Work Personality Style Assessment – PSAs. Although from the training I had a good idea of my Predominant Style, I was curious what my Secondary Color Styles were. I was shocked to find out that - while I knew I was a Yellow - in fact a very
bright and shiny Yellow in the work world, at Home I was a Predominant Red! "What?! I'm a Red Mom?! "Taking that PSA opened my eyes as to how I was communicating at home! It made so much sense! After all these years of raising children, I finally "got it" why my own kids didn't think I was as much fun as everybody else on the planet. And the bullhorn I used at school in a fun, and entertaining way wasn't so much fun when I used it to get their butts out of bed in the morning! Go Figure! The awareness from taking that PSA began my process of "dialing in" to their colors. It has really improved the communication in our home! And I can still have fun with my bullhorn!
