GREAT EXPECTATION

There is no greater way to call out the very BEST in your Students, Faculty and Staff than to Acknowledge the GREATNESS in each and every one of them right from the start.

A New York University research study observed that the expectations of the teachers were carried out in profound way.

The children in the study were given an achievement test, and the students, who had different scores on the tests, were randomly assigned to the different teachers. Now the teachers instead were informed that their students were the highest scores on the test or their students were the lowest scores on the test.

The most interesting thing, even though all of the students were randomly assigned, they performed according to the teachers' expectations. The teacher who thought she had all the high scores had the students performing at very high levels of achievement, and the teacher who thought the students she had in her class were the low performers on the test, performed accordingly.

In later sharing this information with the teachers, they began to see that yes, their thoughts and expectations make a difference. If I think Chip is going to be unruly or if Suzy is going to act out, or so and so won't concentrate or study, it's going to be so.

So, in helping them learn to be conscious of the thoughts they were thinking about the different students, not only when they were with them but even when they were not in school, and learn to monitor and modify those thoughts, amazing things happened.

Children as well as adults are simply sponges to Affirmative Attitudinal Language backed by the Power of Positive Expectation.  Everyone can feel the Attitudinal VIBE of a label, either positive or negative... why not make it a productive one?!
