I know you may be laughing, as there have been more jokes written and ridicule directed at my profession than any other, and much of it has been justified. But there are others of whom you may not have heard...
There are others of us who have put principle ahead of profit... those of us who have followed conscience instead of consensus.
There are those of us who have defended the defenseless... worked for the weak and promoted progress...
We who have fought for freedom of expression, even for those with whom we may disagree...
Because of us, wars are fought with words... Logic instead of lances... Argumentation instead of armies.
Black and white may be found on the printed page, but the color of the skin of the reader does not matter to us.
Rather than believe that 'Might makes Right' we choose to use 'Might for Right.'
We are the ones who fought to open doors of opportunity for women, minorities and individualists.
We have often sided with the poor against the privileged.
