My Dream

A Note from Jack ...

I saw a covered wagon traveling along the road by itself and finally arriving at a most welcome watering hole. After filling their canteens with the refreshing liquid, the travelers realized that they had more canteens than they could ever use, and knowing that others were following in their path, they decided to leave the extra ones by the side of the road.

A little later another wagon arrived at the watering hole and they were overjoyed to discover the discarded canteens. After replenishing their supply of water, they decided to leave some of their excess blankets for other pilgrims who were yet to arrive...

Later, a wagon arrived whose inhabitants were truly in need of blankets, and they joyfully accepted the gifts from their unknown benefactors. Getting into the spirit of the thing, they left some harnesses which they no longer needed.

And so it went, each wagon would leave something for those who were to follow, and every wagon grateful to those who had come before...

When I awoke, I realized how much like life was my dream... As one poet said, "We have all drank from wells we did not dig, on roads we did not pave and received blessings we did not create..."

A grateful heart opens itself for more blessings, and an appreciative attitude inspires one to become creative and make contributions themselves...

To truly Live, we must Give... and treasure what has been given to us...

Gifts by the Side of the Road

I Am A Teacher

"I was born the first moment that a question leaped
from the mouth of a child.

Throughout the course of a day I am called upon to be an actor, friend, nurse and doctor, coach, finder of lost articles, money lender, psychologist, substitute parent and a keeper of the faith.

I am the most fortunate of all who labor. I know that what I build with love and truth, will last forever. I am privileged to see that life is reborn each day with new questions, ideas and friendships.

And who do I have to thank for this wonderful life I am so fortunate to experience? You, the public and the parents who entrust to me their greatest contribution to eternity, their children.

I have wept for joy at the weddings of former students, laughed with glee at the birth of their children and stood with head bowed in grief and confusion by graves dug too soon for bodies far too young.

I have a past that is rich in memories, I have a present that is challenging, and fun, because I am allowed to spend my days with the future.

I Am A Teacher And I Am Thankful For It Every Day."
