Money is Not a Dirty Word
Growing up in the 60's money was something we didn't even talk about; it was like money was a dirty word.
It's been said that money is not the most important
thing in life and yet, it affects everything in your life
that is important.
It affects relationships, divorce rate, health care, level of education for you and your kids, your standard of living, and unfortunately, so many people do not make money a priority until they have a "wake-up" call from a divorce, death, illness, bankruptcy, or an economic recession.
So the philosophy of the God Wants You To Be Rich movie and book is really about empowering people. We intend for you to forward them on to other people; encouraging one another to take charge of our financial lives through expanding our knowledge base about God, money and scriptural interpretation. Your personal connection to your inner guidance and inner spirit, is your best asset.
It is not necessary for you to take money out of the equation to be spiritually correct, but it is necessary that you stop making money right or wrong, good or bad, and replace fear and guilt based, unproductive scriptural interpretations with the JOY of making a difference with your primary focus and intentions. And as you seek JOY more and more in all that you are intuitively guided to do, the more abundance of all wonderful things will make their way to you.
When it comes to scripture, simply give it the litmus test to see what "fruits" it actually produces; does it contaminate or contribute?
In considering any line of Scripture, ask yourself, 1) Does believing this as the only interpretation of "truth" encourage humanity? Does it align people or divide people? 2) Does believing this cause unmanageable angst and harm to myself or to others? 3) Does believing this follow what Jesus commanded, that we Love (trust and connect) God first with all our hearts, minds and souls, and secondly, love our neighbors as ourselves? When you find yourself critical of the way anyone has created his or her wealth or is using money, you are pushing wealth - and therefore God's blessings - away from yourself. When you find yourself in envy or criticism, simply remember that, "What God has done for others, he now does for me and more."
While money does not buy happiness, neither does poverty. What others do with money has nothing to do with you. Your primary work is to think and speak and do what feels like your own purpose and passion. When you realize this, you will be in alignment, not only about the subject of money, but about every important subject in your rich life experience of God's blessings, which are available to us all.
But, you may ask, what about Matthew 5:5 - "The meek shall inherit the earth." The word "meek" means to be gentle, humble, self-effacing and considerate; to be "of grace," flexible to learn at every turn. It is being a living example of what humanity can be. This is the exact opposite of being arrogant, belligerent, superior, needing to be right, i.e., believing yourself "entitled" to hurl your unsolicited opinions at others. So in this context, being "meek" truly is a very "Rich" and life-giving way to inherit the earth.
Thus, dissatisfaction with present financial conditions is the first step toward seeking greater goals and asking God for the best and highest way to attain financial abundance and independence utilizing your specific gifts and talents. If you can't settle for things as they are - that's good. It means your talents are pushing at you to be Rich; to step more fully into making a larger difference with your life.
Why be mildly prosperous when, by being mentally focused or "one-pointed," you can be free from financial care? Financial security and abundance will simply afford you the time and money to develop other phases of your being that can be a credit to you and all mankind?
Being rich in mind, body, time, relationships and spirit includes being financially independent and free to make a difference. It also means being a good steward of your money, developing success habits of self-control through very deliberate, mindful spending, financial planning and giving.
