Getting Your Mind Around Asking

Part 2: Excerpt from Chapter 15 of my eBook, MasterMinding for a Rich Life:

What will you do when someone in your MasterMind group asks to receive millions of dollars?

I ask to win the $30,000,000 lotto!

Now, this request most likely just pushed on your reality button didn't it? Well of course it did. Because we all have a judgment about just how possible winning the lotto really is.

I have friend in southern Oregon, with whom I visit by phone three or four times a year. She's been consistent about MasterMinding with me that she wants to win 30 million dollars. As her MasterMinding partner, I ask her to talk about what 30 million dollars will bring to enhance her life. Financial freedom! She describes it in more and more detail each time. She has the same hopes and dreams that I do. It's really pretty simple stuff, and so, again, I am aligned with her vision, and now I'm wondering if I should make the same request for myself and go out and buy a lotto ticket!

Now there's a concept! You can't win if you don't buy a ticket.

The point here is two-fold: first is that, for me to be powerful for her, which is what I would want her to be for me, I must lay down all of my prejudices and fear about her being delusional! What I fully understand is that she wants financial freedom, wants to do things for her kids and grandkids, wants to travel and wants to relax and not have to work the unfulfilling job she's presently in. It's simple. I decide to deliberately and mindfully choose to agree and see for her whatever she wants without reservation.

Who's to say that winning the lotto is not realistic when it becomes a reality to those who dare to want it more than the rest who piddle around with the notion. That's why somebody wins.

I happen to know a person who did in fact win a $3M lotto. It happens. Did she really want it? Well, yes she did. And therein lies the rub. She clearly wanted it more and felt the feeling of it more than the others who stood in line to play. We don't like that, because it begins to appear that we are at fault somehow. It's not about fault, it's about how you choose to play. Are you really giving yourself, your mind, your heart and your soul, to what you say you really want?

I also know a man who decided to spend every day visualizing winning a TV that was up for a prize give away. He visualized seeing himself winning and being excited and happy as he carried it home. He won it. Next he decided he wanted to win a boat that was to be given away at a contest. He visualized daily, saw himself having fun in it, he named it, he saw it, felt it, and he won it!

It's a truly empowered move to leave a MasterMind group and begin again if those you are working with simply have no real interest in supporting you. They may be more committed to judging you and knowing-it-all, than they are interested in finding out why what you want is so important to you and putting their heartfelt support toward your goals.

Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers,
for what communion hath light with darkness?

It is arrogant to try to talk someone out of what they want. And if you can't pull that judgmental attitude of yours back in long enough to ponder what is really wanted here, then you will not receive unconditional support when you need it.

Besides, the real issue here is that we don't believe God will give us just anything we want. But to say that God will never give you money, just because you've asked or you need it to take care of yourself or get this one: have some fun, totally dismisses the point of a loving father who's only desire is to love you and give you what you ask for in the best and highest form of that request.

Would any of you who are fathers give your son a stone when he asks for bread?
Or would you give him a snake when he asks for a fish?
As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children.
How much more then, will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
Do for others what you want them to do for you:
this is the meaning of the Law of Moses and of the teachings of the prophets.
Matthew 7:9-12

It all goes back to, "What really can happen if I applied myself and let myself feel true desire?"

If you read the stories of lotto winners, each and every winner has several things in common: 1) they want it enough to remain open to actually winning it, 2) they have specifically prayed for it or 3) they prayed for it mentally and emotionally by practicing the feeling of winning it and playing it over and over with persistence, in their mind and being, and when they are lead to buy the ticket, they do!

I know you are thinking about statistics and remember, for every statistic there is it's opposite. Do you choose to do the mental, emotional, spiritual work to be financially rich? You know, doing this work, can bring with it a new idea on how to amass a fortune.

I love reading about people who win big, either from the lotto or from simply wanting to be financially rich and then paying attention when a mega-million dollar idea pops into their minds.

I was extremely moved by a story about an impoverished, college aged woman who really, really wanted to win the $80M lotto. What was so powerful about her story was that she got on her knees everyday and asked God to win it and she did.

A young mother was interested in keeping her children visually stimulated as babies. She created stimulating videos, took them to local toy stores and they began flying off the shelves. In under five years she sold her business to Disney for 18M and she and her husband are now their leading consultants.

There is the hair stylist who wanted to be financially rich. One night while watching a movie with her mother, she was twirling her hair. She had been wanting to create a new and funky hairstyle for her clients. She twisted, turned and poked her pony tail through a hole she had created just above the hair band holding her pony tail. She thought it felt pretty good like that, so she left it that way.

Upon returning home, she picked up a mirror and checked out her newly coifed design, and it was exactly what she had wanted to create. She realized that most people wouldn't be able to simply do what she had just done, so she began thinking about creating a device that could pull the hair through a hole just above the hair band holding the pony tail. She took her circular knitting needle and caught the pony tail and pulled it through. And her new product was born: Topsy Tail. She became a mega multimillionaire with this product!

Why? Because she wanted to be financially rich.

It's really that simple.

We make it about deserving, or being realistic instead of realizing that it truly is simply about "because we want it," and it would be fun, and it would feel great to have financial security and abundance.

By the same token, we can want healthy, happy, rich and loving relationships, or we can want to have our health and weight restored. It's not about deserving something, with a God that is punishing us by not allowing us to have our hearts' desires. It's about following our hearts' desires and asking to receive that which you've asked for.

Ask and you shall receive.

Take deserving out of the equation, and you start understanding it's about a creative process connecting to a desire. Either you are going to follow it, or you are going to keep talking yourself self out of your desires with the limiting statistics available for you out there!

You can find the negative statistics, if you look, or you can find statistics that back your desire and increase your ability to believe that what you want is, in fact, possible. It's really up to you.

Where do you want to put your focus?

Why not just ask for the creative multimillion dollar idea?

Ask and you shall receive!

By utilizing the illustration of winning the lotto is what I'm using to drive my point.

The concept of winning the lotto is most likely seriously bumping up against your thinking, beliefs and statistics to support your current inability to believe that you can really ask for what you want and receive it in some form.

We often feel that anything that we could let ourselves truly want is like letting ourselves be foolish enough to wanting to win the lotto, and so we treat our desires as if they are not realistic. Winning "your" lotto will come in whatever form is best and for the highest good. The question here being,

Are you willing to ask
no matter how great the odds appear to be
against the thing that you really want?

You can ask for anything you want. I encourage MasterMind partners to close the request segment of the MasterMind session with "this, or something better," because it's simply not our responsibility to know everything about what will ultimately be the best route to our desires. We may think we want to win the lotto, but what we really want is financial freedom, stability, rest, time to play or simply enjoy life's little luxuries. And how all that is at the root of our requests can come to us can unfold in a bazillion different ways.

Ask and you shall receive!

This doesn't say ask for this, but not that!

This doesn't say ask and hang on for dear life because you don't know how you will receive it.

Be bold and remain flexible about what you're asking for. Give yourself to the emotion of asking and to the feeling you want to have, more than the specific thing or event. Then be mindful in your world, see things unfold easily for you and thereby receiving answers to your requests. Open up your reticular activating system to receive answers from directions you may not have anticipated.

Expect the unexpected!

Ask, ask, and ask again for what you truly desire, imagine the way it feels as you actualize, delight and relax into knowing that it is on its way to you. Think of it as simply as you would when you are at a diner ordering a meal. You place your order and you know it is on it's way to you. You don't get over emotional about it. But you do have a sense, a feeling, that what you've ordered will, in fact be delivered to you.

When you place your request in the MasterMinding process, your creative mechanism, in agreement and harmony with those of your partners and the third, invisible mind, is capable of bringing to you what you are asking for, in ways that transcend all that you have experienced up to now.

Ask and you shall receive!
It's the emotional risk worth taking ... worth feeling.
And so it is.
