T'IS THE SEASON TO EXPECT MIRACLES
If you are like me, you are enjoying all the new made-for-TV Christmas movies as well as the movies we have come to know and love. We listen to Christmas music, sing carols, attend Holiday parties, and watch these special movies to reignite our need to believe that miracles really are possible.
When I watch White Christmas for example, intellectually I see it as extremely far fetched. But in my spirit and in my heart, I know it is exactly how serendipity, synchronicity and coincidences happen when two or more minds come together in the spirit of harmony for an objective or goal!
As Fred Gailey said in Miracle on 34th Street: "Faith is believing in something when common sense tells you not to!"
It's another one of those simplistic happy movies, like It's a Wonderful Life, or Come to the Stable, movies with uncomplicated people who just know what the season and its "intangible" gifts are all about - and yes, I love the movie. Apparently so did the cast.
In an interview with Maureen O'Hara several years ago she mentioned how she was vacationing in Ireland when she was told to return to make this movie. She was angry and didn't want to do it. Yet when she read the script she changed her mind. In another interview, she commented that there was something that happened during the making of this movie that made them all feel happy and at peace. After a while, they all started believing Edmund Gwynne [the actor playing Kris Kringle] really was Santa Claus. She noted that the energy on the set was positive, almost magical. I know, watching the movie, that's how I feel.
From the script:
DORIS: It's not a question of faith. It's just common sense.
GAILEY: Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to. Don't you see, it's not just Kris that's on trial. It's everything he stands for.
DORIS: Oh Fred.
GAILEY: It's kindness, and joy, and love, and all the other intangibles.
DORIS: Oh, Fred, you're talking like a child. You're living in a realistic world and those lovely intangibles of yours are attractive but not worth very much. You don't get ahead that way.
GAILEY: That all depends on what you call getting ahead. Evidently, you and I have different definitions.
DORIS: These last few days we've talked about some wonderful plans, but then you go on an idealistic binge. You give up your job, you throw away all your security... and then you expect me to be happy about it!
GAILEY: Yes, I guess I expected too much. Look Doris, someday you're going to find out that your way of facing this realistic world just doesn't work. And when you do, don't overlook those lovely intangibles. You'll discover they're the only things that are worthwhile.
Expecting Miracles begins with that which has zero intellectual rationalization ...and I know you know what I'm talking about!
Because this is the time when we turn UP our Believing Thermometers, together let's really crank it up to Find the Possible in the imPossible with the people, situations and events where you've needed or have longed for different results.
You want a Miracle? Go get it!
What does that mean?
On my way to work awhile back, I was trotting along, listening to my music, when the music stopped and I needed to put in some new batteries. I was walking by a cemetery, and in front of it was a big rock and cement wall. I laid my CD player down on it, so I could pull out my new batteries.
I laid my new batteries on the wall, and one of them rolled off the back into the cemetery amidst a bazillion Fall leaves. The wall was too high for me to look over to see anything. My first thought was, "Oh forget it, it was just a battery." And then the second thought was, "I hate losing stuff, now I've got an odd number of batteries, and everything takes two. I want my battery back." This started a lively conversation in my head between these conflicting thoughts, and the conflicted thought went on, "You'll never find it in a bazillion leaves. Give it up!"
It was then that the heart-connected thought, which really should be the one we listen to, said, "Go get it! Go look and see if there is an entry way into the cemetery and just go look." So I did, and sure enough just 6 feet from where I stood was an entry way between 2 really huge bushes. I walked through and guesstimated where I had been standing on the other side. There was a second ledge on the back side and instead of being buried in the leaves, the battery sat there as shiny as could be. I said, "Thank you God! - that was swell."
The message: Go Get It!
You want a Miracle? Go get it!
What does that mean?
It means get off your duff and learn something new, and then do something different about the circumstances in your life that are less than favorable. You cannot change a single thing in your life doing it the way you've been doing it, pushing harder with what you've learned so far!
It won't work. How can it? What you've learned so far clearly creates more of what you are already getting in relationships, money and health.
If you haven't succeeded by now with the beliefs and rules that you have been allowing to govern your life, trying harder at something that already isn't working is exhausting. And that's just for starters!
Using excuses like "It's none of my business" or "I can't control this" or "It's too scary, I simply can't" or "I don't have the time" or "This person will never change, and I am so screwed!" - will also get you more of the same.
To "go get it" means very specifically to go get new miracle-producing knowledge, say like learning how to MasterMind.

MasterMinding is in play when two or more minds come together in the spirit of harmony toward an objective or goal; anything is possible ... and "in the spirit of harmony" they miraculously came from behind to win and two games later won the championship.
But what if you are having trouble believing? You ask someone to believe with you and for you.
Over two decades ago, when I realized I had a purpose that extended beyond the classroom and counseling office, I was excited and scared. I had a vision of what I really wanted to do with my life, but I didn't know how, let alone believe 100% that the dream I'm living today could be accomplished by a small farm girl from Nebraska! But here I am, still MasterMinding ... and creating a world of difference with it!
When several people focus on your goals, your dreams and your opportunities ... it's like putting lightning in a bottle!
Reaching
out to make a difference ...
