Being Thankful Now!

In the past two weeks, we've had many unexpected changes occurring in our professional and personal lives, including our son leaving for his new life's work in financial planning and coaching along side his dad in football and basketball. This move takes him clear across the country from me - going back to Oregon where we moved from four years ago. Watching him drive out was very difficult for me, but even in the midst of my tears, it was also a time of much thanksgiving and celebration because he is connected to his inner spirit's wisdom, is happy, healthy and full of passion to help people manage their financial well-being in his new job as a Financial Planner - by day - and coaching high school kids - by night!

Regarding the changes occurring in the state of the economy ... we are giving our intention and therefore our attention to that which is greater than ourselves. It is a great time to practice managing all thoughts that come in about scarcity and lack by being thankful now for all that you have been blessed with. Suspend your judgment about all the spin the media is giving these situations. This is all about us all REORGANIZING AT A HIGHER LEVEL! ...and there is a Universal system available for all of your needs if you will only ask.

Bruce Wilkenson, author of The Prayer of Jabez, says there is a catch to receiving all of the blessings that are available to you. He refers to what Jesus promised, "Ask, and it will be given to you." He cites James as making a similar reference about the importance of asking when he said, "You do not have because you do not ask." Wilkenson concludes by saying, "Even though there is no limit to God's goodness, if you didn't ask for a blessing yesterday, you didn't get all that you were supposed to have."

In Luke, when Jesus was teaching his disciples about the Lord's Prayer, he said: "Suppose you went to a friend's house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You would say to him, 'A friend of mind has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.' He would call out from his bedroom, 'Don't bother me. The door is locked for the night, and we are all in bed. I can't help you this time.' But I tell you this -- though he won't do it as a friend, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you what you want so his reputation won't be damaged.

"And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.

"You parents -- if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him."


When Oprah invited some of the authors associated with "The Secret" on her show for several programs, both Rhonda Byrne and Michael Beckwith stated that you only have to "ask" once. That if your faith is big enough and you are certain enough, asking once will do. From decades of working with prosperous spiritual principles and tens of thousands of people, I would like to encourage everyone to be compassionate with themselves in their process ... that it takes what it takes, and a statement like "if you really believe you only have to ask once" may leave people feeling worse about themselves if their initial requests don't get answers in the way that they are asking for. Faith is a spiritual muscle that we are flexing in varying degrees depending on what life is offering us to achieve.

Don't stop 5 seconds before the miracle!

Probably the most important thing I learned from MasterMinding weekly for nearly two decades is that sometimes we ask for what we think we should want, rather than what we really would prefer to have as our experience. We have a tendency to get caught up in our heads, the media, the economy and what we have learned to just accept is possible. In this time of media hysteria, turn the TV off, and give thanks for all that you have and all that you hope to be.

Turn your full attention to that which breathes you and created the entire Universe... it would make practical sense that this power and this presence that created you and everything in this world is competent and capable enough to assist you with any challenging opportunity you may be facing right now. It takes stretching that spiritual muscle to get to the heart of what is really trying to happen through what you are feeling you would prefer.

Suspend judgment about everything else.
Be discerning and highly connected to your inner spirit, inner knowing.
Do what's in front of you to do.
Ask to be blessed and to have your territory expanded ... and all will unfold for you in the ways that are highest and best.
